Lal's passion for great Rock 'n Roll, forming an incredible historical collection of songs that you will hear as a backdrop while dining here, is only the second reason that attracts many of his guests to his charming open air waterfront restaurant on the Simpson Bay lagoon. Without doubt, the first reason his restaurant has so many fans is his home cooked Indian cuisine. At Lal's Indian restaurant the food comes at an affordable price and is unparalleled on the island.
Lal himself is literally at the center of attention, as he stands behind a small circular bar at the side of the main dining room. Around the bar is where most regulars prefer to sit. Lal's is a hangout for expats and savvy repeat visitors who desire a great meal that does not leave them with an empty wallet. When he is not too busy, the owner will happily share island stories with you and discuss current island events.
A third reason to visit is the little restaurant's impressive assortment of imported Belgian beers. You have a choice of Leffe Blonde and Brune, Duvel, and some more obscure but delicious brews. Our favorite combination is to start with samosas and a Presidente, and then pair a meal of spinach chicken or lamb vindaloo with Lal's excellent garlic nan and a refreshing bottle of Leffe Blonde.
