At Terra Sana, the Rancho group of restaurants in Simpson Bay is now offering its guests a new and refreshing casual dining concept in place of what once was known as Pasta Café.
Open for lunch and dinner, Terra Sana aims to please the younger generation of "boaties" that frequent the adjoining Palapa Marina and other docks that are scattered around the Simpson Bay lagoon. It's a happening place where you can easily spend an afternoon of uncomplicated fun with good friends, while sipping cocktails and mojitos or freshly squeezed juices that are prepared to order.
All of this must of course be accompanied by some easy going and uncomplicated food, and that's exactly the promise that Terra Sana intends to keep. Natural ingredients, tapas food, snacks, complemented with simple -freshly prepared- platters that won't break the bank. *"Get those drinks ready matey, we're on our way!"* Source: www.dinesxm.com |

Newly opened Kiwi Café took over the spot across from Palapa Marina in Simpson Bay. Joanna and husband Brian hope to follow in the footsteps of "The Stone":http://www.dinesxm.com/restaurants/the-stone which used to occupy this location before it became hugely successful and moved to the Pelican Marina Residences.
The menu is brimful of quirky twists to all-time favorites. Caribbean-styled dishes include grilled pork tenderloin medallions, with Creole spices, a citrus rum sauce, and served with cinnamon mashed potatoes plus a black bean and corn salsa. We counted a total of four different ways to prepare chicken: Chimichurry style, pan-seared with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes, grilled with a citrus butter sauce, and a lightly dusted spicy variation that is tossed with orange peel and chili peppers.
In our opinion, Chef Brian will have to adapt quickly from preparing delicious meals for family and friends to the quick paced delivery and spotless presentation that his patrons will demand. Thankfully, the owners have recently found assistance from someone who is young, energetic and an experienced host: the ever cheerful Shonette is now welcoming the restaurant's guests and overseeing the front of the house. Tucked away at the end of the cul-de-sac that lies alongside Sint Maarten's international airport, Karakter is a hidden gem on Simpson Bay beach. Local "in the know" residents were quick to discover Jorrit's old American school bus that is parked on the beach and now doubles as the establishment's main bar.
Karakter is a unique place that livens up an otherwise sleepy beach. Its menu is funky and innovative, featuring healthy wraps, tapas, and typical Dutch snacks. The juices are freshly squeezed, and the sun nearly always shining at this little magical beach bar.
On Fridays, Karakter stays open after sunset and is usually hosting live music events with local Jazz artists. Either by day or by night, it has become one of DineSXM's favorite spots to lounge, relax and enjoy our beautiful island. Source: www.dinesxm.com |
