WILLEMSTAD--Today, Friday the new Members of the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles will be sworn in by Governor Frits Goedgedrag, thus giving way for Parliament to start its new term in office.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 10:00am at the governor's palace, while at 2pm there will be a first meeting of the new Parliament with on the agenda the election of Pedro Atacho (PAR) and Faroe Metry (PNP) as respectively the President and Vice-President,
On Monday at 2pm, the meetings of the various committees of Parliament will start one after another to elect and install the president and vice-president of each. There are 10 standing committees in Parliament at the moment and one ad hoc committee.
On Tuesday the committee for Kingdom Affairs and Parliamentary Relations will convene at 9am in order to prepare a proposal for Parliament to form a delegation which will participate in the deliberations on the consensus Kingdom Laws and the amendment of the Kingdom Charter in the Dutch Second Chamber of Parliament in the period of April 6 through April 15.
Finally, a meeting of the Central Committee of Parliament will take place on the same day at 2pm to ratify the above-mentioned proposal to form the so-called "special delegates-committee."
